In "Designerbaby's," actor Soumaya Ahouaoui tells a story about the cutting and pasting of DNA, and why this is a good idea despite resulting in designer babies. She narrates this story using Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet as a backdrop. Ravel composed this work in a time (1889) when new technological possibilities were emerging rapidly. His music offers insights into the moral choices that accompany such advancements, much like today. This afternoon, the ADAM Quartet will perform both Ravel's famous string quartet and Gabriella Smith's "Carrot Revolution," which is inspired by a quote from painter Paul Cézanne.

Spraakmakers

Op 31 januari zijn het ADAM Quartet en Soumaya Ahouaoui ook te zien in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven bij Spraakmakers! Spraakmakers is een reizende concertserie die klassieke muziek combineert met verhalen van nu. De stemmen van bekende acteurs Ellen ten Damme, Soumaya Ahouaoui en Lars Brinkman worden verbonden met de muziek van Nederlandse topensembles. Samen smeden zij op 31 januari prikkelende verhalen over de wereld van vandaag en bijpassende klassieke muziekwerken tot één nieuwe vertelling in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Lunchtime concerts are a delicious break in the middle of your day, and you can take this literally! An hour of lovely music in our Small Hall. From piano recitals to chamber music and wind instruments, we offer a varied and refreshing programme. Because we think it's important to offer a stage to budding talent, you'll find recently graduated musicians and competition winners performing for you.


After the concert

Of course, a lunchtime concert is not complete without a tasty lunch. Therefore, you will can enjoy a tasty homemade soup and delicious fresh bread in the City Foyer after the concert. You can order this directly with your ticket!
