Cécile McLorin Salvant was hailed by De Volkskrant as one of the best jazz singers of her generation. The New York Times mentions her in the same breath as the three great voices of jazz: Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, and Ella Fitzgerald. Yet, the American singer sounds anything but nostalgic. Instead, she gives a fresh, modern twist to well-known and lesser-known gems from jazz, soul, and blues, sung in both English and French. She smoothly and elegantly incorporates elements of vaudeville, folk, world music, pop, and baroque music. This fall, together with the rich sound of the Metropole Orkest and her enchanting voice, Salvant will be coming to Eindhoven!

In 2010, Cécile had her breakthrough when she won the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. This victory brought her into the spotlight and opened the doors to a promising career in the jazz world. She is now a three-time Grammy Award-winning singer, captivating many music enthusiasts. In 2023, she released her latest album 'Mélusine,' which consists of five original compositions and nine interpretations of songs ranging from the 12th century to the mid-1980s. On the album, Salvant sings in French, Occitan, English, and Haitian Creole, combining elements of jazz, chanson, and Afro-Latin rhythms. Tonight, she will be performing on our stage with the Metropole Orkest, led by conductor Darcy James Argue, promising an enchanting experience!

Everything Cécile McLorin Salvant performs is beautiful.
